 ***  ইংরেজিতে বিশিষ্ট শব্দের সাথে বিশিষ্ট Preposition এর ব্যবহার করা হয়। এবার আমরা ক্রিয়ার সাথে যথােপযুক্ত।

  Preposition ব্যবহার করা অভ্যাস করি। এই Prepositions ব্যবহার করার যুক্তি-যৌক্তিকতা শিখে নিয়ে অভ্যাস করুন বলার ও লেখার।

***  ক্রিয়াপদ ও অন্যান্য শব্দের সাথে Preposition-এর ব্যবহার :-

[from, by, with, in, for, of, into, against, on, over, about]

FROM
1. The boy was absent from school.বালকটি বিদ্যালয়ে অনুপস্থিত ছিল।
2. You must abstain/refrain from smoking.আপনার ধুম্রপান ত্যাগ করা উচিৎ।
3. My uncle has come from Assam.আমার কাকা আসাম থেকে এসেছেন।
4. He prevents/stops me from going there.সে আমাকে ওখানে যেতে দেয় না।
5. You've not recovered from your illness.আপনি এখনও রােগমুক্ত নন।

BY

1. I was accompanied by my father.আমার বাবা সঙ্গে ছিলেন।
2. Please don't get disturbed by the news. খবরটা শুনে ভয় পাবেন না।
3. He was amused by my story.আমার গল্প শুনে উনি আনন্দিত হলেন।
4. We were bored by his conduct. আমরা ওর ব্যবহারে অতিষ্ঠ হয়ে গিয়েছিলাম।
5. I replaced my old ring by a new one. আমি পুরােনাে আংটি বদলে নতুন নিয়েছি।
WITH
1. You do not know how to deal with others. তুমি লােকের সঙ্গে ব্যবহার করতে জাননা।
2. We should be acquainted with the English language.আমাদের ইংরেজি ভাষায় জ্ঞান থাকা উচিৎ।
3. He was gifted with a talent of painting. সে চিত্রকলায় নিপুণ ছিল।
4. My boss was pleased with me.আমার বস আমার প্রতি সদয় ছিলেন।
5. I'm satisfied with your progress.তােমার প্রগতিতে আমি সন্তুষ্ট।
IN
1. He was absorbed/busy in his work. তিনি কাজে নিমগ্ন ছিলেন।
2. Shiela is deaf in one ear. শীলা এক কানে শুনতে পায় না।
3. You must be polite in your behaviour. নম্র ব্যবহার করবে।
4. He is well versed in music. সে সঙ্গীতে পারদর্শী।
5. His action has resulted in a quarrel. ঝগড়াটা তার কাজেরই ফল।
OF
1. He was sure of success. সফলতার বিষয়ে তাঁর দৃঢ়বিশ্বাস ছিল।
2. He is fully aware of his weakness.তিনি নিজের দুর্বলতার বিষয়ে সম্পূর্ণ সচেতন।
3. He is fond of mangoes. সে আম ভালবাসে।
4. He reminds me of his brother. ওকে দেখলে আমার ওর ভাই-এর কথা মনে পড়ে।
5. Are you sure/confident of your success? সফলতা সম্বন্ধে তুমি কি নিশ্চিত ?
FOR
1. Is she preparing/studying for the test? সে কি পরীক্ষার জন্য তৈরী হচ্ছে ?
2. I do care for him. আমি তার প্রতি অবশ্যই লক্ষ্য রাখি।
3. He apologised to me for his misbehaviour. সে তার দুর্ব্যবহারের জন্য আমার কাছে ক্ষমা চাইল।
4. He'll have to account for the money. তাকে পয়সার হিসাব দিতে হবে।
5. I go there for you. আমি তোমার জন্য সেখানে গিয়েছি।
TO
1. He was addicted to smoking. তিনি ধূম্রপানে আসক্ত ছিলেন।
2. He acted contrary to the rules. তাঁর আচরণ নিয়মবিরুদ্ধ ছিল।
3. Some people prefer wealth to health. কিছু লোক স্বাস্থ্যের ক্ষতি করেও অর্থ উপার্জন করে।
4. He referred the matter to the higher authorities. তিনি ব্যাপারটি উচ্চতর অধিকারীর সামনে পেশ করলেন।
5. He was admitted to the hospital.তাকে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হল।
INTO
1. The police enquired /looked into the matter.পুলিশ মামলাটির তদন্ত করল ।
2. We put our books into our bags.আমরা আমাদের বইগুলি থলিতে রাখলাম।
3. He went into the room, সে ঘরের মধ্যে গিয়েছে।
4. I get into my room. আমি আমার ঘরে ঢুকলাম।
5. The chain was into the bag. মালাটি থলের ভেতরে ছিলো।
AGAINST
1. I always warn you against your enemies. আমি সবসময়ই তোমাকে তোমার শত্রুদের সম্বন্ধে সাবধান করি।
2. The doctor has warned him against working too hard. ডাক্তার তাকে কঠিন কাজ না করতে সাবধান করে দিয়েছেন।
ON
1. His criticism is not based on facts. তাঁর সমালােচনা বাস্তবভিত্তিক নয়।
2. Why are you bent on going there?ওখানে যাবার জন্য আপনি কেন এত কৃতসংকল্প।
3. We cannot rely on him.আমরা তার উপর নির্ভর করতে পারি না।
OVER
1. Ice is scattered over the road.বাস্তায় বরফ পড়েছে।
2. The bridge is over the river. পুলটা নদীর ওপরে।
ABOUT
1. The mother is worried about her son's health. মা তার সন্তানের স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য চিন্তিত।
2. He was enquiring about Sita. সে সীতার ব্যাপারে জিজ্ঞেস করছিল।
3. I was about to go. আমি যাচ্ছিলামই।

[PHRASE PREPOSITIONS]
1. He succeeded by dint of hard work. তিনি কঠিন পরিশ্রম করে সফল হলেন।
2. We should sacrifice everything for the sake of our country. দেশের জন্য আমাদের সর্বস্ব ত্যাগ করা উচিৎ।
3. We should act in favour of our friends. আমাদের বন্ধুদের ভালাের জন্য কাজ করা উচিৎ।
4. We must work in order to live. জীবন ধারণের জন্য আমাদের কাজ করতে হবে।
5. l attended the office in spite of my illness. অসুস্থতা সত্ত্বেও আমি অফিস গিয়েছিলাম।
6. We are in the midst of trouble. আমরা সঙ্কটের মধ্যে আছি।
7. The officer was given a farewell party on the eve of his departure.বিদায়ের প্রাক্কালে অফিসরকে পার্টি দেওয়া হয়েছিল।

স্মরণীয় [To Remember]

1. ক্রিয়া ও অন্যান্য পদের সাথে কেবল কতগুলি বিশিষ্ট Prepositions-ই ব্যবহৃত হয়। এগুলি ভালভাবে অভ্যাস করা দরকার।

*** Abstain, prevent, recover ইত্যাদির সাথে সাধারণতঃ from ব্যবহার করা হয়। সেইরকম accompany, amuse. replace-এর সাথে by deal, please, satisfy-এর সাথে with; prepare, care, apologise-এর সাথে for; addict prefer, refer-এর সাথে to এবং base, rely-র সাথে on ব্যবহার করা হয়। ওপরের উদাহরণ দ্বারা এগুলি স্পষ্ট হবে।

2. ইংরেজিতে প্রচলিত Phrase Prepositions যেমন ‘by dint of', 'for the sake of', 'in order to', 'in the
midst of', 'on the eve of', ইত্যাদি ভাষার শব্দ ভাণ্ডারকে সমৃদ্ধ করেছে। এই ধরণের অন্য Phrase Prepositions সংগ্রহ করে তাদের বাক্যে প্রয়ােগ করা শিখুন।


*** নমস্কার ***
